Going back all the way to Monday this week…walking in the beach near our house.
Going way back to 2000…vacationing on the beach at Coronado.
Today I braved the heat for a short walk to the beach. When I saw these two cuties I just had to stop and say hello…
Sometimes, when I go walking on the beach, I find a tasty little piece of seaweed that I just cannot resist!
I always choose this kind to have a little chew on. It is kind of rust colored, with little balls along it that have leaves attached to them. The balls pop when you crunch them!
My collar started to fall off, but this did not deter me for long!
I just continued without it! Actually, I do not swallow any of this seaweed. I just like to bite it and rip it to shreds.
Once that was accomplished, I was ready to continue my walk, with a little bit of a sandy face! Maybe to find more seaweed scraps to chew on, or sniff at old mussel shells…there is so much to do at the beach!
If you have been reading this blog for a while, you will know that I love my walks. They are my favorite part of my days! Seriously, all Liz has to do is say the word and I start dancing around the house like a crazy dog.
This weekend we went down to the beach at the end of Seacoast Avenue and had a lovely walk at sunset with our friends who were visiting. I wanted to take a picture of me with them, but Liz forgot. So here I am on the beach instead:
Isn’t it strange how instead of red eye, dogs in flash photos get green eye? I think I look a little posessed here…and also in this one, only now my eyes are red:
This one is a bit more flattering:
After the photo shoot I was finally free to run into the night! And I did:
How was your weekend? I hope you had a nice one, too!
It looks like Mondays are good days for walking to the beach:
So much to explore!
I met a little pug named Jote this morning…silly Liz should have taken some pictures! We were running around in the sand.
When I got home, I was so tired, I couldn’t even make it through the door…
After being rinsed off is a good time for a nap!
Don’t worry, I’ll be back soon…
Well as you know I have moved to a new place. I used to walk to the park, but now I have a new place to walk: the beach!
It is only a few blocks from my house. Dogs are allowed on this part of the beach and usually, there is no one around so I can go without a leash! I prefer this so I can sniff every single piece of seaweed and shell that I find.
You see? No one!! We could walk all the way to Coronado from here! We don’t though, Liz says I would get too tired.
So with no one around I can get busy with my investigations.
I really love it here!
Well, apologies again for the long delay in writing. There has been even more going on than I can even tell you about just yet! It has been crazy.
For one thing, that house I showed you last time, is not going to be my new house after all. It fell out of escrow in this crazy real estate market because it did not appraise.
But not to worry! Liz & Jon had a new offer accepted, and this house (it’s a condo actually) is 2 blocks from this beach!
I love the beach. I haven’t seen this house, but when I do, I will show it to you. I think I will wait to make sure it is going through this time though. Don’t want to disappoint you again!
Anyway, to clear my mind during this tumultuous time, I have been taking long walks in the park near my house. It is my favorite place to go whenever I get to go out.
I always meet loads of people and there are always friends to play with. This last time, I met a new one:
He was super nice. He was rescued by our neighbors from a man who wasn’t taking care of him. Now his life is fun and he gets to go to the park every day.
Of course I also made friends with his human family!
Nothing like a bit of relaxation to take your mind off things!
After Liz finished getting her hair cut last week, we went over to Parker’s house and then to get some lunch:
Well, I should say Liz and Frank got lunch; me and Parker got to sit under the table and wait for scraps. Luckily, a bag of SunChips flew off the table, so I got to have a few extras.
Also, the lady at the deli gave Parker and me a Milk Bone. We had to share it, so Liz & Frank had to separate us while we ate. We have been known to have a few incidents over food, which Liz says are my fault. Once we got into a fight over a wind-up piece of sushi because I mistakenly thought it was edible…:(
You could see how that could happen, right?
After lunch, we got back in the car and drove down to Coronado. It was a lovely day. Parker immediately went crazy and started running around, and I did my usual routine of strolling down the beach on my own, peeing on every visible piece of seaweed. But then we all went for a little walk:
Frank gave me tummy rubs in the sand:
Parker met some poodles who were very unfortunately dressed (well, one of them was!)
Liz says that is “wrong”. I say, what is wrong about it? She is already a poodle. It is to be expected.
Frank told Parker he was running too wild, and made him be carried for a while:
Parker did not like this very much. He does not really like to have his picture taken. I told him, you have to just roll with it because our humans are crazy for pictures!
I am used to it and I happily pose (as long as I am not dressed in some outfit, then I do not like it!)
(See, Parker still looks sad)! We were visited by some new friends:
Unfortunately, I stepped on something I shouldn’t have and my paw started hurting a lot. Usually I’m very brave and Liz has a hard time telling if something is wrong with me. But I was limping and then I just laid down in the sand:
Frank tried to make me feel better by brushing me and giving me cuddles:
But it was still hurting a lot! So we decided to go home. Liz washed my paw at the doggie faucet and then we were ready to get in the car. I just had to sit by Parker– I was already starting to forget about my paw! Don’t we look cute sitting together in the back seat?
I can’t wait to go to the beach again!
Yesterday Liz decided we should go to the beach. It is finally starting to be sunny and with daylight savings time, it feels very summery.
Of course I am always ready for a trip to the beach. It’s pretty much my favorite place, although the park is a close second. Or any walk, really.
Here I am with the famous Hotel Del waaay in the background:
It was pretty hot but we decided to walk to the end of the beach because I like to do that. I met a few dogs along the way:
But I wasn’t feeling too playful. I’m a bit discriminating when it comes to other dogs. Usually I like other smushy faced dogs, and I tend to like girls better than boys. There are exceptions of course, and Liz has never been able to figure me out completely. I’m just more of a people dog.
So we kept walking, towards Point Loma:
That is it in the distance. This is one of Liz’s favorite beaches in all of San Diego. Maybe you can see why.
I like to walk to the end, where the beach becomes a military-only beach, to sniff around the rocks down there.
I have sneaked across a few times, but the guard finds me so charming I don’t get into trouble. Only with Liz!
And then we headed back! It was a lovely and relaxing time.
Of course, when we got back I had to face a bath. But now I’m nice and clean, and snuggling in my bed:
And quite frankly I’m ready for Liz to stop taking pictures of me!
