Sometimes I just feel the need to get away from it all, you know? The hustle and bustle of the holidays can be overwhelming and it’s nice to just take some time out for oneself. Don’t you think so?
I was excited when I overheard Liz talking to Jon about taking me to stay with them in their hotel downtown while they went to Jon’s Christmas party.
The hotel just opened about a week beforehand, and I thought I would be able to sleep in a nice new king-sized bed, sit at the window overlooking the bay, maybe even have a dip in the hot tub.
Well, I guess the “pet-friendly” hotel had a non-refundable pet “deposit” that meant really they would have to pay for me to stay. And for what they wanted, Liz says I should have got my own bed. Doesn’t she know that I’m worth it?!?
So instead I got sent to my aunties’ house for the weekend. 🙁 I like my aunties but my cousins are kind of another story. You may remember Buster, the chihuahua who hates me. Come to think of it, my cousin Edgar hates me too. But I will admit I do antagonize him sometimes. He is a cat and you know how I feel about cats! On top of these characters, there is a new part-time addition to the household and I really don’t know what to make of him. His name is Amico, and he is a puppy who is already twice my size. He spends half his time growling at me, and the rest of the time licking my face off!
No matter what I do, he just won’t leave me alone!
So, I spent my “holiday” trying to avoid him, Edgar’s random attacks from underneath chairs and going up stairways, and then to top it all off, when my auntie Em finally let me in her bed to sleep, just as I was getting comfy her boyfriend booted me out for “snoring”!! I guess he is a man of double standards because he snores much louder than I do!
So much for my relaxing weekend plans…I got home and went straight onto my bed to sleep! It took me all of Monday to recover…how was your weekend??
I am so happy to be able to tell everyone that my surgery went well and I am feeling great! They were able to remove the tumor with clean margins and I should do very well going forward. Dr. Judy does not expect it to come back. I do have a scar but it is healing little by little and I will get my stitches out next week.
Ouch! It actually looks even better than this now; this picture is from Sunday. I have been very brave and not seemed to be in pain at all. I was a little wobbly as we left the vet (I couldn’t wait to get out of there!) and when I got home I rested for a while. Then I pretended that I wanted to go on a walk (because Buster was going). But I was faking, after 1 block I sat down and then ran back home and went straight onto my bed! But by that evening I was playing with my toys.
As a bonus, I had my teeth cleaned while I was under anasthesia and now my breath smells super fresh!
I was all ready to attend a family picnic by the bay on Sunday.
Buster got to go too!
We had a good time. Jon took me on a walk by the water:
And I discovered I really enjoy eating watermelon!
I love summer!
You all remember my cousin Buster don’t you? Here he is chillin on the couch at my auntie’s house:
But I also have a cousin named Edgar.
Edgar is a cat. I like to chase cats! This is hard for me and Edgar, because he does not like to be chased or lunged at and I don’t understand why. It is so much fun!
Just yesterday I was at the park and I chased a kitty right up a tree! It was the fastest I’d moved in a week!
Whenever I get within 3 feet of Edgar he starts to make a funny singing sound. This helps me to locate him more accurately.
But I am never allowed to get as close as I like…
He is a dumb cousin. In fact so is Buster. None of my cousins will play with me!
Guess what? My cousin Buster is back in San Diego, this time for good.
I’m not sure how I feel about that.
It seems that Liz knows more than one Buster. This one lives on the East Coast though, and he is a beagle.Liz wanted me to share his repeats portrait with you, since she just finished it and it is going in the mail today:
Hope he likes it!
